Expecting a baby?
A Letter from Dr. Fox-Levine
As the Medical Director of our South Florida practices, I take great interest in making sure your family’s experience is one that I would want for my own family.
It’s why I like to share my personal mission statement with new families: I'm committed to meeting the physical and emotional needs of the children of South Florida by providing the highest quality of care with compassion and honesty.
This is the premise on which our Palm Beach Pediatrics practice was founded almost 40 years ago. While the name has changed, our core values have remained constant. Our team continues to deliver care that is thorough, thoughtful, and deeply rooted in trust.
All goals for the future are tied to this fundamental principle of giving the highest quality of mind and body care by providers and staff who are compassionate and honest. This is our practice culture. We’ve been fortunate over the years to have performed as a team in our community well above the expectations for this measure.
Throughout my career, I’ve witnessed a lot of change in medicine. We pride ourselves in being a “by-the-book” practice, which means that we follow American Academy of Pediatrics guidelines to give your children the highest quality of care. The guidelines for such diseases as Asthma, ADHD, Anxiety, vaccine-preventable illnesses, and COVID-19 are great examples of what’s changed. It’s our duty to stay current and abide by these directions that are based on science.
As a Level III recognized Patient Centered Medical Home you can be sure your children’s care will be conveniently accessible when needed with late night hours at each office Monday-Thursday as well as weekend hours. In addition, we pride ourselves in the coordination of care of all your children’s special medical needs. We have a team of Care Coordinators to be sure your referrals are sent to sub-specialists, but more importantly, those specialists’ visit notes are sent to your pediatric provider for review.
I hope you find your new patient centered medical home with us at Bluebird Kids Health, because it would truly be our privilege to care for your children all the way from birth to the age of 22.
See you soon,
Dr. Shannon Fox-Levine

Frequently asked questions
Where are your practice locations?
We have three open locations in South Florida - Boynton Beach, Loxahatchee Groves, West Palm Beach - and are proud to have served families in the area for over 40 years. We just opened our first practice in Jacksonville on the Westside and are opening our second this fall in Brentwood.
Who will my primary care team be?
You will be matched with a provider (a pediatrician or nurse practitioner) who can best support your child's primary care needs. Together with a team of medical assistants, nurses, mental health health, urgent care, and administrative professionals, we work in partnership with you to provide comprehensive care for your child. Learn more about our providers here.
What insurance plans do you accept?
We accept a wide range of insurance plans, including Medicaid. Our services are billed through your insurance. You will be responsible for deductibles and co-pays outlined in your policy. See a full list of our plans we accept here. If you have questions about your specific policy, please give us a call at (561) 509-5009.
Are you accepting new patients and families?
Yes! We are accepting new patients across all practice locations in South Florida and Jacksonville. Please call us to schedule an appointment today.
How do I make an appointment?
Book online or call us at (561) 509-5009.
Can I visit any Bluebird Kids Health location?
Yes, you are welcome to visit any of our three locations. See address and contact information for each location here.
I do not speak English. What other languages does your care team speak?
We care for many patients and families who do not speak English. Members of our care team speak Spanish and Hatian-Creole and anyone can access our live, real-time translator service when calling the office.
Will my child see the same care provider every visit?
We prioritize patient preference and continuity of care when scheduling visits, and aim to have you meet with your preferred provider each time you schedule a visit in advance. That said, there are occasions, like last-minute scheduled sick visits, for which we may need to schedule with you a different provider.
Until what age will you see my child?
We take care of children at every stage, from newborns through young adulthood, up until age 22.
Can I bring all my children for appointments at the same time?
We do our best to accommodate parents and their schedules by seeing all children in the same family at or around the same time. We do recommend that you consider the ages and needs of your children and if having them at the same visit is best for them. For example, do you have a teen that does not want their care addressed in front of their younger siblings? Or children of different sexes who require a physical? You may want to bring another adult with you to help by staying in the waiting room with one or more kids while each child has their own visit.
How soon should I make an appointment with a newborn?
We recommend that your baby’s first visit, which includes checking their weight, take place within two days of leaving the hospital.
Can I meet my pediatrician before my newborn arrives?
We are happy to accommodate expecting parents for a meeting with their preferred pediatrician. Attend one of our Expecting Parent Nights! You can also call our office to schedule a visit with the pediatrician of your choice or ask for a recommendation on one available in your desired location. We will need the baby’s due date and your insurance to schedule the visit.
What information should I expect to review at my newborn’s first visit?
Your newborn’s first visit will include a physical examination, weight check and some discussion of your family history. Go here to learn more about what to expect at your newborn’s first visit.
Can I book an online appointment for myself if I’m the patient and I’m 18 or older?
No. Our website services, including appointment booking, are intended only for parents, legal guardians or other adults authorized to act on behalf of the patient. If you are a patient—even if you are 18 or older—please contact us directly at (561) 509-5009 to schedule an appointment or communicate with our office.
